Water
Until recently the water companies have, in effect, controlled the whole of the water network, including laying new water mains and service pipes. They still maintain the integrity and quality of the network but there is no reason why others cannot be allowed to lay new water pipes. Most companies have already moved towards giving developers the option to do this work.
The areas of main laying most commonly treated as contestable by water companies include:
- the design and installation of on-site mains and service pipes;
- the connection of service pipes to new mains;
- pressure testing and disinfection processes; and
- procurement of materials.
The areas most commonly considered by companies to be non-contestable are:
- connection of new mains to existing mains; and
- installation of off-site mains.
Conexu's experienced consultants will obtain quotations for builder's temporary supplies, permanent mains connections and wastewater connections. As necessary, this may include commissioning of flow and pressure investigations to ensure the network is capable of taking on the demand required.
By obtaining quotations for the wastewater connections we shall also seek to ensure that there are no capacity issues in the local sewer network or downstream at the treatment plants. We shall also obtain competitive quotations to optimize price efficiency and limit programme risks.
Conexu will ensure that each connection is fully project managed, offers value for money and is delivered on time and within budget.
